It kicks off in Auckland on Friday May 22 at Double Whammy, before travelling to Hawkes Bay, Nelson, Christchurch, New Plymouth and Wellington. Tareq Baconi is a Palestinian writer, scholar, and activist. His 2018 book on Palestinian resistance movements, Hamas Contained, was shortlisted for a Palestine book award.
His coming-of-age memoir, Fire in Every Direction, was published late last year. Described by Isabella Hammad, author of Enter Ghost, as “moving and generous”, it spans Beirut, Amman, and London while remaining distinctly Palestinian.
