Taite Music Prize-winning songwriter and Whanganui’s very own elevator operator is putting on the perfect show for you to stick your phone up in the air to capture some spectacular visuals. Anthonie Tonnon is taking his immersive new live show, Cinematographer, on the road, marking the beginning of a bold new creative chapter. The ambitious audio-visual performance introduces an entirely new body of work for the prolific artist.
“Cinematographer is part film, part francophile performance lecture, part disco club set” says Tonnon. “In a world that we’ve built for this new music, exploring some of my great loves – the French avant-garde, cinema, urban politics of the 1960s, turn-of-the-millennium dance music and documentary films, and the glorious, mystifying city of Whanganui.”
