The Saturday Spring with Karyn Hay

Season I of The Saturday Spring wraps up with a Demo Gods special. All the artists who have collaborated with Finn in the last three months: Indira Neville, Club Ruby, Maebh McCurdy, Josh Hunter, jackaltheblackal, and Karl Sölve Steven.

Plus new tracks from TOMORA, Kathryn Mohr, and Robert Smith of The Cure is more than a little impressed by the songwriting talents of Olivia Rodrigo. 

Finn Johansson gives us a potted musical history of Karl Sölve Steven before unveiling the finished demo next week, with the prompt being “BPM”. Tracks from The Drab Doo-Riffs, Supergroove, Queen Neptune and one from Karl’s highly successful movie soundtrack work. 

It was Record Store Day around the world! Some live tracks from Toy Love from 1980 (Flying Nun Records have been running a RSD competition with a Toy Love prize pack) and the usual mix of old and new including My New Band Believe who played an instore at Rough Trade Records East London along with Eaves Wilder who was also on the bill to celebrate RDS in their neck of the woods.

Packed with chat and tunes this week including an interview with Richard Langston, author of the new biography on the band that helped launch the Dunedin Sound – “The Clean: In The Dreamlife You Need A Rubber Soul”. And Gorillaz with the late Mark E. Smith.
