Durand Jones & The Indications have built an international fanbase due to their endearing approach to contemporary soul music. Their music has the unique quality of sounding  anachronistic without being derivative. Nicholas caught up with the soul-band before their show at the Powerstation in Tāmaki Makaurau. The conversation began with a discussion on the impact of recently passed artists Roberta Flack and Angie Stone.
