Elle spoke to Sans Merit the solo project of Australian born, LA based Griffin James. They spoke about his sophomore release Trolley Polly, a considered follow up to his debut, Early Grave.

A transformative album that explores the extremities of neofolk, shoegaze and restless post-punk. Intricately vulnerable lyrics weave through the record accompanying James’hazy melodies. The album is, dare I say, brilliant.

You can find Trolley Polly on BandCamp

Some tunes, another fire alarm, and the worst thing ever played on 95bFM?!

With NZ Music Month and the Comedy Festival in full swing, Crawley and Harry both had packed weekends.

Professor Emeritus Peter Lineham joined us for That's The Spirit. This week’s discussion: Catholic social media influencers.

We had another ripper song suggestion from Lance, and tried out a highly experimental new segment (also courtesy of the legend Lance): 3 Sentence Philosophy.

Ngā mihi The Beer Spot!

Elle spoke with Rory Trobbiani and Luke Scott of post-punk outfit HighSchool. Currently touring their debut self-titled album, they play Whammy Bar this Sunday (10 May) with support from Wellington based Lipstick.

After making the move from Naarm to London in 2020, the duo formed HighSchool, a cohesive project evocative of the nostalgic pangs caused by teenage emotional turmoil. Taking their time to hone their sound through their live performance and shorter length EPs, the album is moody, angsty and a little bit cathartic.

You can find them on bandcamp!
